Nissans new prototype Note is the first to be trialing a ‘self-cleaning’ paint, said to protect against rain, sleet and dirt.

How could this work? The super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint, named Ultra-Ever Dry, creates a protective layer of air between the paint and environment, fundamentally forming a block for dirt coming into contact and potentially marking the cars surface.

Nissans Note is the first car to be trialing this technology, in all sorts of trials and conditions. So far so good – the nano-paint has reportedly responded well to common causes of dirt build up, it is going to be continually put through its paces in the following months.
